So glad you are here! With your help "Operation: Thank You!" will be a huge success.

STEP ONE: Click here for a list of our legislative champions and their addresses.

STEP TWO: Get a spiffy thank you card out to any legislator on this list. Make sure you write to your own official if you see their name included. One person definitely due some gratitude is HB 286's Primary Sponsor, Russell Weber, who fought hard for HB286 and has always been an outspoken advocate for APRNs.

Here’s a sample of a terrific “Thank You” note, courtesy of President Wendy:

Dear Representative ________,

I cannot thank you enough for your willingness to co-sponsor HB286 to eliminate collaboration agreements for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses in KY. As we discussed during the 2020 session, these agreements are antiquated documents that provide no benefit to patients, increase the cost of healthcare, and restrain the trade of APRNs in the open market. With COVID-19 causing chaos across the state, we need APRNs more than ever to care for KY’s most vulnerable, and I look forward to working with you in 2021 to push this important legislation across the finish line! Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you in the meantime!

Sincerely,

______________

If you are comfortable, include your contact information and offer to be a resource to your official health care matters. This is a great opportunity to build a rapport and a working relationship with the people who will be crafting policies and regulations that affect your patients and profession.

STEP THREE: Feel great about the big step you just took toward fostering goodwill and support for the work of legislators who value APRNs in Kentucky! Every time you can connect with your local legislators you are an "ambassador" guiding them into the world of issues Advanced Practice Registered Nurses face every day.

Thank you for all you do for your patients and profession!
